There's a lot of choice in the world of portable saunas and a very large quality range as well (from amazing, to total crap). The Therasage Portable Infrared Sauna is one of the amazing ones because of the quality of its infrared panels, its compact and collapsible design, and the high-end features you don't usually find on saunas at this price point.

Pros:

  • Full spectrum infrared panels
  • Included remote, chair, and foot pad
  • High absolute temperature for an IR sauna

Cons:

  • Overall cost
  • Heat up time

The Therasage Portable Infrared Sauna is quite convenient to use and set up. You do have to allot a few minutes for it to get up to temperature, and if you decide to tuck it away between uses, tack on another 5 minutes or so to set it back up. But in a relatively short amount of time you're sweating real good!

If you like to read while you're in the sauna, there's two zippered slits in the front of the unit so you can easily hold a book without having too much heat escape.

Includes folding bamboo chair and grounding foot rest for comfortable seating.

It's quite comfortable to sit inside of the sauna on the provided chair with your feet on the included footpad (though you'll want to throw down a towel to collect your sweat) and because the back and sides are flat, you can position right up next to a wall if you're limited on space.

What We Like About the Therasage Portable Sauna:

  • Collapsible Design: The sauna tent is easy to set up and take down, making it ideal for use at home or while traveling. It can be assembled in about five minutes and folded into a compact size for storage or transport.

What Might Deter You From the Therasage Portable Sauna:

  • Price: The Therasage Portable Sauna is priced higher than some other portable sauna options on the market, however, we think that the value is excellent because of the full IR wavelength panels, high absolute temperature, and included bamboo footpad and chair
  • Size: While the sauna is designed to be portable, it may still be too large for some living spaces or travel situations.

The Thought Behind The Product:

There are so many benefits to regular sauna bathing, but particularly infrared sauna bathing.

Infrared radiation penetrates skin tissue deeply, warming you from the inside out. Traditional saunas use ambient heat to increase your temperature from the outside in.

IR saunas require lower heat levels because the heat penetrates deeply within your skin.

Because of this, you'll probably notice that infrared saunas have a lower maximum temperature because they don't need to get as hot to unlock some of the benefits of sauna time like upregulating your immune system, releasing heat shock proteins, and improving circulation.

Having said that, the Therasage Portable Sauna still gets very warm for a portable sauna (170 degrees Fahrenheit).

Reaches a maximum temperature of 170 degrees Fahrenheit.

Plus, you're wrapped up in this thermal cocoon so only a relatively small area needs to maintain heat, which is mostly being directed to your upper body, so you get very warm, very quickly within this sauna.

Some infrared saunas cheap out by not offering a full wavelength panel. The infrared spectrum has near, mid, and far wavelengths, with different healing properties associated with each, but to lower costs, some infrared panels will focus only on the far wavelength, the one that penetrates the deepest, warming you up the most.

But with the panel included in Therasage Portable Sauna, you get the muscle and joint relief from mid infrared, and the skin and collagen stimulation from near infrared.

IR panels cover the spectrum of near, mid, and far wavelengths.

Depending on how deep you go in your biohacking journey, there are some added benefits that might make this sauna appealing. The sauna's panels emit red light which may improve skin health. Those panels are also made using tourmaline gemstones, which are thought to release negative ions that could have health benefits for blood pressure, regulating your immune system, and neutralizing certain bacteria and pathogens.

Plus, since you're going to be sweating a lot, the chair and foot pad are made of non-toxic bamboo (though you'll likely want to cover those with a towel so you don't have to clean the interior of the sauna as regularly).

The Bottom Line:

The Therasage Portable Infrared Sauna offers a convenient and effective way to relax, rejuvenate, and enjoy the many health benefits of sauna therapy. Its portable design, advanced infrared heat technology, and ease of use make it a valuable addition to any wellness routine, whether at home or on the go.
